Geraldine Moriba is the SVP and Chief Content Officer of theGrio, a digital video-centric news community platform devoted to amplifying compelling stories and perspectives about African Americans. She oversees a large staff covering social justice, lifestyle, and entertainment.

Since joining the organization in June 2021, she has been instrumental in expanding theGrio’s reach and impact. In her first two years in this leadership role, she has positioned theGrio for dynamic growth and created a media powerhouse with five distinct revenue and content businesses: a robust news site, a streaming and mobile app, live events, a podcast network, and a cable network.

As a media executive, journalist, documentary filmmaker, writer, podcaster, and equity advocate, Moriba’s work has earned her five Emmy Awards, an Alfred I. DuPont Award, two Peabody Awards, the Princeton University Ferris Professorship of Journalism Fellowship, the Anita Hill Gender Justice Award, two RTNDA-Unity Awards, four New York Film Festival Awards, two NABJ First Place Documentary Awards, and more.  

Geraldine Moriba was a Stanford University Brown Institute research scientist and a Stanford University John S. Knight Journalism Fellow. Her research focused on ways to use machine learning to identify editorial patterns. She pioneered the Stanford Cable TV News Analyzer, an AI-powered tool that enhances transparency around daily editorial choices. This tool has been applied to over a decade of nearly 24–7 cable TV news broadcasts by CNN, FOX News, and MSNBC — over 270,000 hours since 2010.
